Remapping

Car Tuning, Performance Tuning, Chip Tuning and Remapping all refer to the same thing on modern vehicles.

Re-mapping is the process of removing the standard map from a car and replacing it with a modified one. Modifying the ECU management can offer some of the greatest performance gains available. Remapping your car is a practical way of managaging efficiency of your engine in order to get the most from it.

They are different terms given to the process of reprogramming engine management software, stored on a chip or processor in the vehicles ECU.

Engine Management Software

By using modern car tuning methods, it is possible to safely increase the performance and power output of most modern vehicles by reprogramming of the engine management software alone.

Performance Gains

Power gains for normally aspirated engines are usually around the 10% mark, but when a turbo is involved power gains can be in the region of 25-40% or more, according to the actual vehicle in question.

Benefits

Having your vehicle tuned by any method, whether it be chip tuning or remapping can have many benefits including but not limited to - Improved overtaking ability, smoother acceleration, greater towing power and often results in better MPG for many drivers, especially those who have opted for chip tuning or remapping on a diesel vehicle.

ECU remap kits are availble for most vehicles, so call us to see what difference a 'chip' could make to your car!
